Empowered to Thrive: Trust INSET Day Ignites Passion and Purpose
Over 300 staff members from seven primary academies gathered for a dynamic Trust INSET Day, a professional development event designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and forward-thinking in education.
Held at a the home of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, the day brought together educators from across the Trust for a packed agenda that blended strategic discussion, hands-on collaboration, and thoughtful leadership.
The event opened with a warm welcome and keynote address from CEO Jo Whitmore, who shared an inspiring vision for the future of the Trust, emphasising the power of unity, shared values, and continuous improvement across all academies.
Delegates then participated in a series of breakout group tasks, where school teams tackled a series of questions based around the Trust’s values of THRIVE. These sessions encouraged rich dialogue, creative problem-solving, and the sharing of best practices. Later in the day, headteachers from each academy presented the outcomes of these group discussions, highlighting innovative ideas and actionable strategies that will inform future Trust-wide initiatives.
A standout moment of the day was a thought-provoking session on Artificial Intelligence led by Darren Coxon, who explored the evolving role of AI in education. His session sparked deep reflection on how emerging technologies can enhance teaching and learning, while also raising important questions about ethics, equity, and the future use of A within the profession.
The atmosphere throughout the day was one of energy, collaboration, and shared purpose. Delegates left feeling inspired, connected, and equipped with new insights to bring back to their schools.
As one attendee put it, “I always enjoy the FGT conference. I found that this year was very informative and allowed us to feel part of a community of schools”
The Trust INSET Day reaffirmed the commitment of all seven academies to working together to provide the very best for their pupils, today and into the future.
