Year 1 Teacher – Maternity Cover
M1 – M6
Full time, Fixed term
January 2026 – August 2026
Cheslyn Hay Primary Academy is seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and committed Class Teacher to join our friendly and supportive team. We are looking to appoint an inspirational educator to teach in Year 1, working alongside dedicated colleagues who are passionate about nurturing young learners.
Last year, we introduced continuous provision across the full academic year as our core approach to teaching in Year 1. This child-centred model supports a smooth and developmentally appropriate transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage, and we are proud of the engaging, exploratory learning environment it has created.
We are therefore seeking a candidate with experience in either EYFS or Year 1, who has successfully delivered effective and engaging continuous provision. The ideal applicant will be confident in child-led learning and in creating stimulating environments that promote independence, curiosity, and progress.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the national curriculum and continuous provision principles.
Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing constructive feedback and setting clear targets.
Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that fosters exploration and active learning.
Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and carers to support pupils’ academic and personal development.
Participate in staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school events.
Promote the school’s values and manage behaviour in line with school policies.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Proven track record of securing good progress through high-quality teaching.
Experience teaching in Key Stage 1, preferably Year 1or Early Years.
Strong understanding of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks.
Experience of delivering continuous provision throughout the academic year in Year 1, or in EYFS.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to inspire and engage pupils with diverse learning needs.
Commitment to professional development and reflective practice.
